Introduction
A yardstick is a measure stick, carefully measured out, which is meant to serve as a model, a ruler for measurement.
From time to time, you hear people arguing whether the Bible is inerrant or not – whether it contains errors, mistakes or not. You as a child of God should know that the Bible has undergone several changes, which changes were neither initiated by God nor approved by Him. “The Bible is incomplete,” says the Almighty.
Even the Bible bears evidence that it is both incomplete and full of man-mad errors.
8 "How can you say, 'We are wise,
And the law of the LORD is with us'?
Look, the false pen of the scribe certainly works falsehood.
9 The wise men are ashamed,
They are dismayed and taken.
Behold, they have rejected the word of the LORD;
So what wisdom do they have?
Jeremiah 8:8-9
Those who read one holy book and are parading themselves as ministers of God should know that they have not even completed nursery level in Religion.
The Bible, as well as several other holy books, has undergone the following changes:
Many a times, true records of history, including Bible accounts, are altered to please any man in a powerful position. And tyrants destroyed so many sacred texts, to the detriment of humanity.
- The original copy was received by a founder.
- After many years the original copy was corrupted.
- When the saints discovered the corruption, efforts were made to re-organize.
- Then people interpreted the copy.
- In the process some portions of the book were misinterpreted.
- As a way of correction, the holy book was or being re-interpreted.
- Today, one – single – original copy has been diversified. Evidences abound.
Examine the copies of the Bible available, you will notice so many versions and so many different interpretation of every one statement. For example, New International Version, King James Version, Scoffield Reference Bible, Good News Bible, American Standard Version, Catholic Version, Jerusalem Bible, Etc.
The differences only prove one thing that is true. That is that the religious leaders have not yet known the Truth. If they had known the Truth, they should be saying the same thing. This does not mean that all previous religious efforts were useless, for “in spirit, no exercise is a wasted effort,” says the Master. The point is that humanity are still at the nursery level learning ABC, when they suppose to have become professors and doctors of Truth.
The Only One True Yardstick
Everybody, and indeed every reverend minister, must turn to the Holy Spirit, for guidance, corrections and directives. New and emerging ministers of God should be able to recognize and respond to the Holy Spirit, and not the current “Yes, Sir” attitude under the suppression of their heads and founders.
That is why Jesus, after commissioning his disciples, still told them to go back to Jerusalem and wait for the Holy Spirit. God confirms what Jesus said. “The Bible is incomplete,” says the Lord.
Conclusion
The Bible was written a long time after the related events happened. The current Bible is not the original writings either. It is a result of series of translations, re-translations, re-interpretations and misinterpretations, which processes are sometimes manipulated by the tyrants, kings, political powers and even by the priests who should know better. Some of the things written in the Bible are false and such lead people away from the truth, even causing confusion and conflicts. That is why you must study Spiritual Science and thereby learn to recognize and respond to the Holy Spirit. It is only the Holy Spirit that is the spirit of Truth. Only the same Holy Spirit can tell you the Truth. Jesus showed a very good example. After He commissioned the Disciples to spread the Gospel to all nations, He still directed them to go back to Jerusalem and wait for the Holy Spirit.
